The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) organized the first ever South-South-North Symposium on Inclusion and Diversity in Education on the 12th and 13th November 2024.

The hybrid event, with parallel sessions at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) in Bandung, at Netlinks in Kabul, and at the University of Oslo, enjoyed great support among all key stakeholders in Afghanistan. The Symposium was a joint effort by the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) and the Afghan Technical, Vocational, Education and Training Authority (TVET-A), together with a host of other Afghan, British, Indonesian, and Norwegian organizations, universities, and research institutions.

More than a hundred and fifty key stakeholders met face-to-face in Bandung, Kabul, and Oslo with many more joining online from throughout the world.

The aim of the Symposium was for Afghan, Indonesian, and Norwegian academics, education planners, donors, UN agencies, national and international organizations, and organizations of persons with disabilities to work together across sectors towards more inclusive schools, communities, and workplaces, as exclusion of persons with disabilities knows no boundaries.

Our collective aim is to end isolation, stigma, and discrimination of persons with disabilities in the Global South, and to ensure that future humanitarian and development programs are inclusive of women, men, children, and youth with disabilities.
