Afghanistan Week

Afghanistan Week

Afghanistan Week was first initiated in 2014 and is a biannual event where politicians, journalists, academics, and activists from Afghanistan, Norway, and beyond come together to address key issues facing the country. The events include seminars, panel discussions, film screenings, and cultural performances.

STØTT OSS

"Afghanistan Week brings together voices from Afghanistan and Norway for dialogue, culture, and debate about the country’s present and future."

The goal of Afghanistan Week is to create a platform for discussions and to enhance awareness of Afghanistan in Norway, as well as to stimulate debate about the country’s current situation and future. Afghanistan Week aims to provide a safe space to share knowledge, experiences, hopes and concerns. Debate, active listening and asking questions are at the core of the concept. Most importantly, it aims to constitute a platform for voices from inside Afghanistan to be heard.

In addition to the official program, Afghanistan Week also features political meetings in Norway, providing a unique platform where attendees can engage directly with Norwegian politicians. These meetings offer participants the opportunity to share their observations, concerns, and recommendations with policymakers and politicians working on Afghanistan-related issues in Norway.

Afghanistan Week is organized in collaboration with the Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC), Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) and Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue – with support from Norad and Fritt Ord.
