Technical and Vocational Training

Technical and Vocational Training

Skills development is key to economic stability and self-sufficiency in Afghanistan, where many face high unemployment and limited job opportunities. NAC provides technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programs that equip individuals with practical skills for employment and entrepreneurship, helping them build sustainable livelihoods.

SUPPORT US

"By investing in skills development and vocational training, the Afghanistan Committee creates pathways out of poverty. In this way, Afghans are equipped with the tools they need to build a sustainable and independent future."

NAC’s TVET programs target youth, women, and persons with disabilities, ensuring that those with limited access to formal education have marketable skills. We focus on hands-on training tailored to local economic needs, increasing opportunities for employment – including self-employment, and business creation.

NAC delivers community-based, demand-driven training in sectors that provide long-term income potential, including:

  • Carpentry, stone masonry, mechanics, and electrical work – Trades that support local economies and infrastructure development.
  • Tailoring, handicrafts, and textiles – Skills that enable small business creation, particularly for women.
  • Food processing – Skills that enable small business creations, reduce food waste, and improve food security levels.
  • Agricultural training – Helping farmers adopt improved techniques for higher, more sustainable productivity.
  • Business and financial literacy – Empowering trainees to launch and manage enterprises.
  • 21st Century skills – Critical thinking, communication, English language, and IT skills.

TVET is not just about education – it’s about economic and social empowerment. NAC works to build self-esteem and connect graduates with job placements, internships, and provides startup support, ensuring that our training leads to real economic opportunities. By investing in skills development and vocational training, NAC is creating pathways out of poverty, equipping Afghans with the tools they need to build sustainable, independent futures.
