Disability Inclusion

Disability Inclusion

In Afghanistan, persons with disabilities face significant barriers to healthcare, education, and employment. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) is committed to breaking down these barriers through its comprehensive Disability Inclusion (DI) programme, which supports persons with disabilities and disabling health conditions across 14 provinces and 60 districts.

SUPPORT US

"Everyone has the right to live a life of dignity. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee works for a society where people with disabilities have equal opportunities for education, employment, and participation."

Our programme covers physical, social, emotional, and economic rehabilitation, preparatory education, employment support, and social integration, ensuring that persons with disabilities and disabling health conditions have access to the services and opportunities they need and deserve to lead independent and dignified lives.

Rehabilitation centres provide physiotherapy, prosthetics, and mobility devices, while preparatory education programmes offer special- and home-based learning for children and youth with disabilities.

Employment support initiatives, such as technical and vocational education and training and microloans, further promote self-sufficiency and economic participation.

By working closely with local communities and health institutions, NAC ensures that disability inclusion remains a prioritised and integrated part of Afghanistan’s development efforts. The programme continues to expand and adapt, restoring and reopening rehabilitation centres, training professionals, and creating pathways for social, educational, and economic inclusion. Through these efforts, NAC is helping to build a society where persons with disabilities have the same opportunities as persons without disabilities – where they can access education, earn a living, and participate fully in their communities.
